Popularity of Working from Home

Sitting at home, sipping coffee or cocoa, or what ever you like, watching television, reading a good book, doing what you want, when you want... that's what it's like to work at home... right? Well, that depends if you want to earn a living or just hang out at home.

Whether you take the relaxed approach or actually find a way to get organized and work, working from home has both advantages and disadvantages. Each home-worker has to decide what they consider to be an advantage, for me it was being comfortable; sitting on my own furniture, packing my high heels in the back of closet, and wearing what I like.

It's the same for the disadvantages; they are different for everyone depending on personal perspectives. For me the hardest part is overcoming disorganization and ignoring potential distractions.

I knew the popularity of working from home was growing quickly, but I was surprised by this article stating that the majority of companies allow at least some amount of distance work. I don't doubt the quoted statistic, even though remote work is not the norm in my area, I was just surprised.

As someone working from home, I would find it very hard to jump back into the rat-race. I wonder how other home-workers feel about the idea of getting a regular hourly job. Feel free to leave a comment if you feel inspired to share your experience.

To get to the point of this blog post: I actually just wanted to share the article linked to above, because I thought it was interesting, and possibly of some interest to other web writers.
