How to Build Your Self-Confidence

The building of a sense of self-confidence typically occurs in childhood and develops differently for each person. In spite of the early life development of self-esteem however, boosting your self-confidence is possible at any age.

How to Raise Your Self-Esteem

Everyone has something they are able to do well. Individuals with low self-confidence problems can increase their sense of positive self-esteem by remembering their past successes and trying new things a little bit at a time. It can be intimidating and just plain hard to try something new if a pattern of self-defeat has been established. It will help to develop an attitude that not everything is going to work -- and to keep trying until something does. That doesn't mean you should start something expecting to fail. Expect success but if it doesn't work out try again from a fresh angle.

Self-Esteem Builders

People often tend to fall into self repeating patterns. But it is possible to avoid the self-esteem crushing things that have prevented success in the past. Set goals and write them down in detail. Write down the things that would have stopped those goals from being achieved in the past. Make a plan that describes the steps to change past patterns so the goals can be successfully achieved. Do not do things the same self-defeating way they were done in the past.

Create Your Own Package of Self-Confidence

Each small success can be used as part of a larger self-esteem program. Keep a journal or a blog and do not fill it with the negative things that occur in life. Use your journal or blog to stay focused on the positive parts of life -- acknowledge each past and present success no matter how small it may feel when writing it. Do not worry if the little things feel too unimportant to write down at first - they are important. Each small success can be used to create a total package of self confidence.
