Associated Content: The Beginning of My Online Writing Adventure

I had been looking for a legitimate online work-from-home opportunity for a long time when a colleague recommended Associated Content. Associated Content (or AC) has since become the Y Contributor Network because Yahoo bought them out.) I was hesitant, but at least I had one person I could look to for information, and she said they do always pay.

After writing for them for a little over two three (I just checked my calendar, I told you wrong - sorry about that.) years, I can say they have always paid promptly and have never shorted me so much as a single penny. Do they pay a lot? No. Do they pay the amount promised? In my experience, always!

I was a slow starter at AC. I got an article together and submitted it. Then I waited a couple of weeks after it was published and paid for to see if anything awful happened. I don't kow what I thought would happen. I just waited. Nothing scary happened so I wrote some more articles.

A Little Information About AC's Pay Scale

The payment offerings at AC are a bit unusual, with choices related to what rights you want to keep. If you want money upfront in addition to page views, comparable to residuals, you give up more rights. If you want to keep the rights to your work, however, you have the option to post only for page views.

Rights to your work might not seem important to new writers. When I started I was happy to get the highest possible amount as quickly as possible. (And, I suspect many newbies have that in common.) Now, however, I cannot do anything else with that early work.

That's okay though, I will always be grateful to AC for giving me a start on my web-writing career; and I would recommend them as a starting point for new writers, even though they are not the highest paying site around. AC gives you a taste of dealing with an editor's requests and a feeling for seeing your work published - somewhere other than on your free blog.

Here is a link to their sign up page - AC - in case you want to check them out. It's not an affiliate link, If I ever post one I'll make a note of it and let you know if you will see any benefit from signing up through it..
