I claimed and wrote a short (70 word) article at Textbroker about two weeks ago, thinking I would just get in some short articles to see if they actually raised my rating. (Which of course isn't going to happen anyway since I mis-spelled people as poeple.)
Anyway, I finally got my rating from the 70 word article - N. On a scale of 1-5, I got an N! N is for neutral, because short articles, according my Textbroker statistics page, do not get ratings.
Okay. If you want to write for Textbroker, and your plan is to write short articles until your hiring-in rank goes up, it apparently won't work - since you don't get rated for short articles. Go ahead and get the long ones out of the way so you can start earning more: and make sure you SPELLCHECK.
Seriously - they're uber-picky for uber-small money. I guess they want to keep paying out the uber-small money if at all possible.
As soon as I make payout, I'm done with them. I don't actually mean that as rudeness to them, or even as a flounce, I just have better paying work as an option; and I wanted to share first-hand experience on this blog whenever possible. After all, if you can use my experience with a writing site to advance your writing career, maybe you'll visit my blog once in a while to see if I have added information about any new writing sites (and I do plan to do exactly that.)
I wouldn't bother with writing more for Textbroker to make payout now that I have the information I went in to get, since it's such a small amount, but really, why should they get to keep my pittance when they're already making plenty from the articles. I can use it buy a cup of really good coffee or something.
