When I started writing, it took a long time for me to reach the point of being able to say I was making even a part-time income. I'm sure that is fairly common for writers, especially writers building a career writing for rev-share sites. It takes a fairly large body of work to earn anything significant when writing for page views or a percentage of earnings.
My slow start in regards to earnings is the reason I decided to start a blog. A couple of friends asked me how to get started in this field. I wanted to share, in a sense, my mistakes as well as my observations, so I decide to post the things I was sharing with friends with, well, any other writers happening across my blog.
I only write online, haven't tried print work yet, so I named my blog Online Writing Adventures and got started. I was surprised to find out later someone had this same blog name before I did, and I was getting views from older bookmarks. I decided I better step it up and share enough to really help new writers.
So, here, in the fourth section of this post, I am going to get to the point. I have been so surprised and amazed by the number of blogs and websites built upon this same idea - writers helping writers. I am humbled and pleased to be part of a group of people so willing to share information and help new writers.
I wish I had stumbled on their work years ago; it could have saved me a lot of time and effort, scraping by on very low income. If I can figure out how to set up a feed, I will link to some of the other blogs and websites I have come across that are so great. (If I can't figure it out I'll start adding links to them.)
