Another Algorhythm Change?

How many Panda slaps can online writers take? Sounds like the start of a joke, right? Well, it's no joke. Apparently another blow came to the online world either late last night or early this morning, and the big content sites witnessed page views plunging not only to the floor, but way down into the pits of the basement.

How Did the Main Content Sites Fare?

If you check the current Alexa charts for some of the bigger sites, Suite101 and HubPages got hit pretty hard. Demand Media Studios is down a bit, but, like before, hardly any damage compared to the others. My own Suite101 views dropped by around 90% today, and from the look of the chatter in the forums there as well as the Alexa charts, it's almost across the board.

Strange Coincidences?

Okay, I like a good conspiracy theory, and before I proceed I want to point out that this next part is theory, or maybe educated guess - not fact.

It's interesting timing that Demand dumped all of their eHow titles, leaving many, many, many of their writers at a total loss for work a few days before Panda swiped its paw again, and also a bit odd that they were the least affected in terms of lost page views from searches. The timing makes it look as if they knew big changes were coming and wanted to cut their losses as quickly as possible.

Maybe online writers should start watching to see what DMS does, and if they make a big change, the writers will have a clue another algorhythm change is about to hit.?

Hi again, I'm back to leave an update on this, at least on my Suite page views since I specifically listed them as an example. Compared to yesterday, the page views have slightly more than doubled, compared to last Sunday, well, it's a pretty sad comparison. So - slight increase today - not could be better, a lot better.
