Sites Scamming Writers

Have you ever been checking out writing sites, or work from home sites, and just known you were looking at a bold scam? Some of them are pretty obvious, especially the ones that tell you you can write one letter and make over $200,000 from it. Would it be cool if it were true? Sure, who couldn't use a few thousand extra dollars for a page of writing? Is it realistic? Um, not so much.

That's what we, as writers need to ask ourselves when we come across sites making big promises. Some of the scams are not as obvious as the one mentioned above. In reality, most are probably not that obvious. However, if it sounds too good to be true, or plays to your vanity, or your even your need for quick cash for living expenses, take a breath and check it out before you give them, well, anything.

Before you invest yourself in a site's program, see what you can find out about the site. Compare it to similar sites. Is that the exciting way to approach things? Not so much, but take it from someone who had to learn the hard way when it came to spotting scams, if you can avoid getting burnt by an unethical scam site, you'll be glad you made that extra effort.
