Considering The Content Authority

This is a reply to an email from J.C., but I thought some of my other readers might also be interested in this paid writing site, The Content Authority.

I have neither written for the site nor applied, but I have heard positive things about them, including:
  • They pay as promised
  • They are polite and treat writers well
  • Pay starts out low but advances as promised
  • You get paid every Monday as long as you have earned a minimum of $25
I also did a bit of digging around on the site to find their pay rates, because, no matter how much you love writing, income is important and often the first thing asked about when seeking information about a job. All writers start out at tier 1 and are reviewed for increases. This information about pay levels and writer's tiers is from the TCA site:

Tier Level ...........Rate Per Word
Tier 1 ...................$0.007
Tier 2 ...................$0.010
Tier 3................... $0.015
Tier 4 ...................$0.030

So, J.C. and everyone wlse who is interested, that's what I know about working for The Content Authority, if anyone would like to add their experience with the site, feel free to leave a comment.

Writing Shares Review

I found this writing site, Writing Shares, through a Twitter friend and wanted to share it with you. I have to stress that I have no personal experience with this site.

It looks like a fairly new site and currently has a page rank of zero, but I love the profit-sharing concept the site owner has created, with each article receiving one lifetime share in the site's profits, unless you choose a topic from a recommended list, then you get five lifetime shares in the site's profits.

The site owner does impose a quota of 30 articles in the first 90 days, in order to make sure writers are serious about writing for Writing Shares and do not just present one or two articles. After the 90 day initiation period is successfully completed, the quota drops to one article per month.

The site also offers bonuses to the most prolific authors each month.

If you have experience writing for this site, we would love to hear what you think of it, feel free to leave a comment below or drop by the forums and share your thoughts there.

Making Money As a Post-Panda Online Writer

This post goes out to those writers who, like me, found it pretty easy to scrape together a decent living as a writer before Panda slapped down the sites that paid reliably.

I can't say I have all the answers about how to recover, but I have made a couple of observations.

My first observation is, the paying work is still out there, but it takes longer and more effort to earn decent wages. Gone, at least for me, are the 15 minute = $15 articles. (Those were rare for me anyway because I am admittedly a slow and usually contemplative writer, except for when I'm blogging.) Now I end up spending a whole hour, or longer, on the same articles I casually breezed through in the pre-panda days.

My next observation is, the SEO information I spent hours upon hours upon hours learning, means very little right now, at least to the content sites that used to beg for lots of SEO - oops - I should have written keyword stuffing not lots of SEO.

I resisted taking on private clients for a long time, mainly because the work for content mills was there - well, everywhere - and it was so easy.

I suspect, for right now, private clients and business writing is the way to go for writers who want to jump back up to pre-panda earnings. Feel free to check out the job board here on this site, there are also some great Yahoo groups for freelance writers, with job leads shared regularly via some of the groups.

Online Writing Jobs: Making A Living Ghost Writing For Other People

Author: Martin Woodchild

A lot of people dream about the idea of online writing jobs but don't get any further than dreaming. Which is just plain daft as there is a lot of demand for writing jobs online if you know where to look.

What's different about Online Writing Jobs?

The thing I found out about online writing was that the style is completely different from the one I used at school all those years ago.

The audience has a short attention span, so short chatty sentences work better than long complicated ones.

And a lot of the jobs didn't actually require me to have much – if any – knowledge of what I wrote about. Which sounds bad but it's really quite easy to research web writing projects and if you've only got a few hundred words to write (which is usually the case) then it takes less and less time.

When I first started web content writing, it would take me ages to finish an article. After I'd got a few articles under my belt, things began to get quicker and I can now knock out a decent quality article that gets accepted first time in a handful of minutes. Which then turns into dollars in my pocket – a very nice feeling!

The snappier your online writing, the better.

If you're going for online writing jobs then you'll be writing for other people. This is different from writing for your own blog: you need to keep your personality out of your writing. Whereas writing for your own blog (like I'm doing here) gives you free reign to bring your own style into your internet writing.

Check out the main article sites such as EzineArticles and ArticlesBase. You'll see how people manage to write a few hundred words on a subject that they know very little (if anything) about. If this style of writing is one that you can duplicate then there's a good chance that you'll find plenty of well paid online writing jobs on the "traditional" freelance writing sites such as Elance, Vworker, Odesk, etc.

Don't rule out getting online writing jobs on sites like Fiverr either. This modern interloper has scooped up a fair few writers. Quality and quantity varies but as a general rule if you're based in the Western world and English is your first language then you'll be able to pitch for online writing jobs of about 400 – 500 words and one article for the $5 fee. The site takes a hefty 20% commission ($1) but once you've completed a few online writing jobs you'll be able to contact the people you've written for and pitch your services direct.

400 to 500 words may sound a lot but once you get in the swing of things you'll be able to write that quantity in around ten to fifteen minutes, less if you use programs such as Dragon Naturally Speaking or the built in speech to text facility in the newer versions of Windows or Macs. Speaking your articles will likely cut down the time to "write" and edit them to a handful of minutes. This technique will make your online writing jobs nicely profitable even if you're not getting top dollar for them.

The Real Writing Jobs Reviews

Author: Irene Estrella

With the economy on the fritz all over the world, it's no surprise that people are turning to some of the less conventional jobs. One of these jobs is Internet writing and while it might not sound too promising, there are many people out there who have found it to be an excellent full time job opportunity. One of the best parts about online writing is that you are not limited by the minimum wage in your country. Often times you might find yourself working for an American company that is willing to pay you quite a bit more than you would make in your country of origin. Real Writing Jobs is a company dedicated to helping you find the jobs you need in a relatively short time.

As with any Internet-based opportunity there are bound to be pros and cons attached to it, and we will go over them in detail for you:

Pros:
1. You will have a great opportunity to work from home and do something that you love to do.
2. By working from home you will have more time to do the things you want and spend time with your friends and family.
3. You will be able to work for multiple companies and ultimately make even more money depending on your level of skill and the type of writing you are going to be doing.

Cons:
1. Some writing jobs may require a certain level of skill and if your writing skill is below that level you may be rejected by employers or you may be stuck with jobs that pay much lower than you would prefer.
2. You will not be able to clock out at any specific time. If you do not complete your work quickly you will be stuck at your computer all night trying to finish, and it becomes rather tiresome after a while.
3. In many cases you will need to proofread your own work, and with that being the case you will need to develop a rather keen eye for errors. It's not always easy to catch your own spelling mistakes but certain employers will require it.

One of the best aspects of Real Writing Jobs is that they have already done the dirty work for you. They have forged relationships with companies that need content writers, and you may be just what they are looking for. You will be provided with writing opportunities and you will be able to take those opportunities and run with them. There are not many jobs out there like this and so long as you keep that list of pros and cons in mind, you should be able to come out on top.

Web Writing Jobs

Author: Steve East

Remember the olden days when you had to physically go out to knock on doors (and bug business owners) when you were looking for a job?

Well, those days are now ancient history, thanks to the internet.

Right now, I'm referring to "writing jobs," which are in great demand.

You see, many marketers require a large number of articles online pointing towards their "product or service" website. The reason they need this is because articles create "backlinks," or "votes" for the page, and when that happens, the page will "rise" in the search results. That is exactly what they need, because if their site is not on the first page of a google (or Bing or Yahoo) search, then forget about traffic.

Traffic (page views) leads to clicks, and of course a percentage of those clicks turn into sales!

Most marketers simply don't have enough time to write for themselves. One article is not enough, they need a lot of original content to make this work. This is where you come in, because they are willing to pay you for each article you write.

Most will pay you via PayPal, which is the most widely used money transfer service online. It's great because you can earn money right away with no delay. Not like a regular old fashioned job where you have to wait for payday, how awful that would be.

To take advantage of these opportunities, you need to go to a jobs dashboard to see a summary of people who need you to write articles for money.

To browse internet jobs, you simply scroll through the jobs listed. You will see the offer of how much they are willing to pay, and how much time you would have to complete the task.

If you are interested, then you would respond with a "bid," which would list your time required to finish the article, and your expected pay.

As you gain experience, you would build a reputation for good work, and your payments will rise. You will also find that "repeat business" will form a large part of your business.

This is a growing type of business on the internet, and you can start this full time right away. The income potential is really only limited by your willingness to put in the time required to complete the writing jobs.

Good luck to you in this rising market!

Internet Writing Jobs - The Top 3

This article about the top three online writing jobs is courtesy of Author: KA Finch and Articlesbase.

Website owners need a lot of content – and with the addition of web 2.0 to their marketing plans, a whole new set of writing styles are needed. More about web 2.0 below.

Delivering writing projects on time and to specification is the best strategy for a writer to grow his or her business. You don't need to be a great writer, just a good one. You don't need a college degree, but it helps to know a little on a variety of topics. Here are my top three internet writing jobs:

1. Articles

Internet marketers need articles to help drive traffic to their websites. When an article is published, often through free publishing sites like ezinearticles.com, it can be used by any number of people looking for website content. They are able to use these articles as long as the owner's links remain in tact. So the one article might appear on dozens of different websites, with readers clicking on the link for more information.

The search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN love sites that are linked to by other sites, and see them as ‘active' and popular. They reward these sites by ranking them highly in search results – which is what all internet marketers want.

2. Web 2.0 Posts

Web 2.0 was an internet revolution that allowed visitors to websites to actively contribute to it by entering data directly. Such sites include Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Squidoo, eHow – and hundreds of others. Internet marketers need to have a presence in these platforms in order to get exposure and to secure links to their sites. The aim is to increase search engine rankings as well as to sell products and services.

3. eBooks

In order to position themselves as experts in a given field, internet marketers often hire ghostwriters to write eBooks on their behalf which they publish for sale or as giveaways to get sign ups to their mail list. As with ghostwritten articles, copyright reverts to the client once payment for the eBook is received. The writer is not able to sell or use the material in anyway.

eBooks can be anywhere from 30-300 pages and in order to come up with a price, it's good to establish a price per page, taking into account the amount of research that needs to be done. There are loads more opportunities for writers on the internet and thousands of topics that need to be covered. You are bound to be an expert in a few of them!
