Suite101 is one of my favorite writing sites. The learning hubs are some of the best I've seen, and the forums are loaded with information. A word of warming for newbies, though; lurk. The long-timers can come down pretty hard on newbies asking questions they could just look up in the learning hub or by searching the older forum threads.
I have learned more about SEO and using keyword phrases through my experience at Suite than I ever came across anywhere else. People find your articles if you use good keywords (especially on a highly rated site like Suite) and if you don't use them they don't find your work.
Suite writers are paid rev-share, which you can think of almost like residuals, but not exactly. I compare it to residuals because you do not get paid any kind of upfront payment, you make money based solely upon how much revenue the article brings in for Suite.
If you apply, make sure your writing sample is carefully proofread and edited before submission. Typos and grammar errors will get it kicked back to you with a rejection email. You can reapply, but I believe someone wrote in the forums that you have to wait two weeks before reapplying.
